ANC Non Conductive Fencing is made out of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Fiber Reinforced Plastic or Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products are created using high-quality polymer and fibers that enhance the surface’s strength and durability. Since 1978, AMICO FRP products have been tested and proven in the harsh environment of the offshore Oil & Gas industry.

Our Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products provide the load capacity of steel, plus the inherent characteristics afforded by Pultrusion Technology: non-conductive, chemical resistance, non-magnetic, and corrosion-resistant. These characteristics reduce shock hazard and make our Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products transparent to radio waves, radar and microwaves.

Although light in weight, the strength to weight ratio of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products surpasses that of equivalent steel products. Our FRP products weigh 1/3 that of steel products and are pound for pound stronger. This makes them easy to install, reduces the possibility of lifting accidents, and lowers transportation costs. AMICO FRP products are available in both polyester and vinylester resin systems.

Our Fiber Reinforced Plastics are manufactured to meet ASTM E-84, Class 1 Flame Rating and self-extinguishing requirements of ASTM D-635. FRP material will not rust, nor does it ever require painting. AMICO FRP products are in two colors: gray (polyester resin) and beige (vinylester resin), with custom colors available upon request.

A surface veil is applied during the pultrusion process to ensure a resin-rich surface for superior corrosion resistance, as well as an ultraviolet exposure barrier.

HOW IS FRP PRODUCED?

We manufacture and fabricate a diverse product offering in fiberglass using primarily two processes:

1) Pultrusion

Pultrusion is a continuous molding process in which glass roving, glass matting and a synthetic surface veil are pulled simultaneously through a flame-retardant polyester or vinylester resin bath. Geometric shapes are formed and solidified as they are pulled through a heated steel die.

Also, our pultruded shapes can be used to make structures of all types such as channels, square tubes and ANC non conductive fencing posts. At the end of the production line the finished FRP product is cut off to a desired length.

2) Molding

Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) products are molded by placing glass fibers into the mold. The dry fibers of molded fiberglass grating are wetted by hand or by injecting resin into a closed mold.

The FRP products are cured prior to removing the mold resulting into a final product shaped like the inside of the mold. Molding is the process used to manufacture our ANC SAFEGUARD™ Meshes.
