The AMIGUARD ANIMAL SHIELD™ systems protect substations from small animals. The presence of herpetofauna (snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs, salamanders, etc.) in an electrical substation can cause a variety of system problems. This may include momentary disturbances of electrical systems, long-term system outages and severe damage to electrical equipment, leading to both a loss of revenue and a decline in customer satisfaction.
In addition, personal safety and health issues are always of high concern if operations personnel were to encounter a live animal. Wildlife entering a substation has the potential to lead to animal waste, carcasses and with this, the risk of disease.
